UVB phototherapy is an effective treatment in a number of dermatological conditions like vitiligo, psoriasis, eczema, some cases of severe pruritus (itching), certain forms of skin cancers (lymphomas)

 

Narrow band UVB  has a wave length of 511nm. This specific segment of the ultraviolet spectrum has been shown to e the most effective component in the treatment of some skin conditions.

 

The effects of ultraviolet light are to decrease the rate of cell turnover (in psoriasis) and to decrease the activity if the immune system in the skin, thus reducing inflammation and the resulting damage of the skin.
